Canyon-Eaton

TERRITORIAL RESERVE FOR PROTECTED AREA PURPOSES

1 331 km² | Designated in 2020

The Canyon-Eaton territorial reserve for protected area purposes (Réserve de territoire aux fins d’aire protégée du Canyon-Eaton) provides protection for an area of conservation interest, especially for the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach, and for traditional activities. The territory includes old-growth forests and hills that display abundant plant diversity. Its protection would contribute to the representativeness of these natural features that are rare in the network of protected areas in Nunavik. Eaton Canyon, Caniapiscau River Gorge, and Goodwood River Falls are spectacular geomorphological features of the landscape.
