Between September 2024 and March 2025, local organizations and elected officials of each community will be invited to take part in a virtual Pre-engagement session with the objective to :
- Share information about protected areas in Nunavik;
- Provide feedback from the Phase 1 consultations;
- Explain Phase 2 objectives, steps and timeline;
- Launch a call for project proposals involving members of the concerned communities for field visits to the protected areas, according to pre-defined parameters.
Engagement sessions
Engagement sessions will bring together representatives from communities concerned by the same protected areas with the objectives to:
- Ensure the precise boundaries of each protected area align with the conservation objectives;
- Discuss the concept of development for each protected area.
The representatives, appointed by the communities, will take part in an Engagement session in a host community to collectively discuss the protected areas in their surrounding areas.
During Phase 2, each community will also be invited to submit a project for a field visit by its members to a protected area of its choice.
